I'm getting ready to buy a G19 and wanted your opinions. Would you get a RFT2 or put Talon grips on a regular Gen. 3. My local shop has a bunch of G19 with 3 mags for $506. Thanks. :dunno:

As the owner of both I would go RTF2.

The G19 at the dealer are not RFT2. I can't find any G19 RTF2 in Denver to look. I have held a G22 RTF2 and kinda liked it.

I'd say they're real close in feel so whichever you can get the best deal on is probably the ticket.

I will say that the fish gills do indeed work better and are being phased out on the newest one's since it appears so many Glockers are sensitive to how their gun looks ... so I'd rate a RTF2 w/ fish gills as slightly better performance-wise if you find one.

I should also add that while it's way more slippery in the hand, I tend to shoot the regular 3rd gens better since the "grippyness" of the RTF2 has me milking the grip a bit sometimes if I'm not paying attention not to do it... so YMMV.

I like the RTF2 better. There's just something creepy about the sandpaper feel of the Talon Grips.

Like the Talons, have 'em on a couple of guns....but the RTF2? It's the only way to go if they make it in the gun you want. And in a 19 it's awesome.

I was going to go the talon grip route until I found this thread, now I'm debating.
Are the G19 RTF2 tough to find? I would like to at least get a feel for it.

My thoughts exactly, I bought one Talon grip for my G23. It just felt weird having it on my gun, after a few days, I took it off. Didn't like the grip at all.

I put a talon grip on my 23 and think it's great! I shoot much better with it on my gun. Everyone likes different things. Just get what you feel comfortable with.

I'd recommend the RTF2 personally. I like it better than the Gen4 or 3rd generation textures. And I really like the gills better than the standard serrations. I wish Glock would have kept producing them and put them on the Gen4 slides. The gills produce a more positive grip in my opinion and experience.
