My grandfather passed away this morning, at 3:30am. he had been fighting with cancer for several years now. this is the first person that i have lost in my family that was close too me in a long time. I am glad he did not have to suffer anymore. and i am very thankful that i got to see him last night, before he passed. anyways, i know i will probablly catch static for this, but my papaw, David L. King, used to work at Inland manufacturing, in Dayton ohio. he retired in 1999 after 40 years, from a tool and die maker position. I am hoping someone out there has an Inland M1 carbine they would sell me, so i could think of him everytime i am shooting, even though i know he wasn't working for them when they were making them, in some strange way i think it will help me grieve. I will pay basically any reasonable amount for one in good firing condition, as long as it says inland on the reciever, and/or barrel. thank you, and god bless.

I know I would be pretty torn up if my grandfather passed away. Like you said, at least he is not in any more pain. Sorry for your loss friend.

My paw paw died when I was 6 years old but I still remember the stuff he taught me like it was yesterday. He taught me how to box, he gave me my first gun (Beretta .25 acp with a tip up barrel), he told me all kinds of stories about Russia and America pre-1920 (he came to America from Russia in 1918). If I could have one thing in the world it would be to spend a day with him the way I am now at 20 years old. I can only imagine how much he could teach me. He was 89 years old when he died, and, sadly, he was sharp as a tack but his heart gave out on him. I'm so sorry for your loss, but always remember and appreciate the time yall did have together.

thank all of you so much. it has really helped. there are alot of kind people on this board. i am glad to say, i walked into my favorite gun shop today, and they had an Inland M1, all original parts matching carbine, for $700. i know it is probablly a bit high, but i went ahead and picked it up. and have kept it next too me all night. i wish i could have shown it too him 3 or 4 days ago, and said, "look papa, this came from your shop, 66 years ago." he would have been proud. he loved that company, and was upset when he finally retired. dont know what else to say right now. but thanks again everyone for the kind words. and if anyone else out there over the air waves is going threw the same, or similar things, i would be glad to lend an ear and talk to you. feel free to PM me for contact info.
