Cracked my back right bottom molar. Choice is root canal then a crown. 3 visits and big$$. Yanking the tooth is cheap and one visit. Dr. Says of all the teeth this one is easiest to do without.

    NO Bravia with either procedure!

Pull it or fix it. What say ye?

I'm in favor of keeping the tooth. It starts with one then who knows where it goes from there! Good luck with whatever you choose.

If you deal with it before it gets infected you should have no problems with a root canal. I had one at least twenty years ago and except for having the crown reset after snitching a single popcorn flavor jelly belly from my daughter, I have had no problems.

I had mine done by a specialist, I think his name was Clark, in Dayton. From what I have heard from other dentists in the area he is or at least was the man for root canals in our area. That's all he did and he was very good at it. Zero pain during or after the procedure.

I had mine pulled out for $250. It was cracked also. He even gave me some blue happy pills and only took two. All I care about is my front teeth in case some girl wants to tickle me so I can watch her Sony TV.

I had one pulled on the left a lower molar. It had a fracture in the tooth and he wanted to use pins + crown and no promise it would hold for long. After a couple years no issues without it.

Depends how old you are, where the tooth is, and the condition of your other teeth.

Definitely save the tooth. If he pulls it, it's going to adversely impact your entire bite. Two years from now you won't miss the money. But guaranteed you'll miss the tooth.

Get the root canal + crown if you can afford it. As long as the fx isn't below the gum line. Nothing is better than your own teeth. If you do decide to get the tooth out, make sure you get the extraction site grafted with synthetic bone. That way down the road if you have some extra money, you could get a dental implant. That's what I'd tell our patients.

I had mine pulled and there has been none of the problems forcast by the doom sayers (those who wantes my $$$). You're fortunate that you have a dentist who is up front with you judging by what he told you. And they for sure will not guarantee all will be OK if they root canal and cap it. I've heard too many horror stories of those who paid the big bucks for multiple painful failures from those "save-the-tooth" procedures.

Use the money saved to buy a new Glock or two and a train load of ammo.

If you can afford the root canal and crown, have them pull it. Book a good guided hunting trip with the money saved. You can hang the tooth right next to your trophy.

    Good luck!

Depending on how far back it is and if you have dental insurance, get the crown and make sure you need the root canal. They didn't do any thing but crown my back teeth when my wisdom teeth chipped them coming in.

I did the 'Save the Tooth' thing on a back Molar also. Root Canal, Post, Core and Crown. A couple of years later, the Root Canal perforated and I was left with a nagging low level tooth ache.

I had to have it extracted. It was a waste of money.

Have it pulled and be done with it.
