If you were serving on the famed NYPD robbery/stakeout squad, which Glock would you choose? This unit was famous with the NYPD, and their M.O. was to stakeout businesses exhibiting high incidence of robbery. The late Jim Cirillo was a particularly renowned member of this squad.

I have pondered this question over the years. I had previously favored the Glock 22, with .40 caliber firepower in a nice shooting pistol. I also considered my 1911's.

Though, after having shot a friend's G21SF, I think this would be my choice. 13 plus one rounds of .45 sits well with me, and the G21SF is a particularly smooth shooter (to me) and followup shots are quick. The G21 reliability is legendary among Glocks as far as I am concerned. Granted, I have never fired a Glock 20, so there may be room for change as far as my choice is concerned.

But for now....the G21 SF is my personal choice.

It wouldn't matter to me where I served, if I had my choice, granted the 21SF is a VERY viable weapon for the purpose, I would have to choose my 31. Without trying to start any caliber wars, I have tested this cartridge extensively and even though I own 2 G-21SF's which I dearly love, the 31 in my hands just smokes the 45. The sig cartridge has impressed me so much all the ballistics charts and who carry's this and who carries that meens absolutely nothing to me. I know beyond any shadow of a doubt what a 45 acp is capable of but I have extensive experience with the sig round and the end result is hands down my first choice. 31 is very easy to carry consealed if necessary, fast and accurate. Only gun I would even consider over the 31 is my 35 with my Barsto sig barrel in it. I am huge fan of the Glock pistol in any caliber but for your stated use that would be my choice. Further more, I sincerely respect ANYONE's choice in another direction for what ever reasons they have, this is just MY choice for MY own reasons.:wavey:

If you know for dead flat certain that the poop is going to hit the fan, why wouldn't you have a carbine? An AR of some sort is the answer to that question.
Handguns are for when you might get in doo-doo; shoulder arms are for when you know it's going to be ugly.

Thanks for the poster, bro! I'm gonna get it printed and when I do, it should be large enough to cover my neighborhood.

Absolutely no problem here. This is why I started this thread, to get an idea of what other shooters would use in these circumstances.

Thanks for the response..

Glock 32 Gen 4 (when its released)
I LOVE the .357 Sig round and is ideal for a LE
gun especially in the situation you describe as it has
amazing penetration through barriers.

I'll second that. My dept. has been using the 357 sig round for over a dozen years, and have been very happy with. Currently carry the glock 31

Jim Cirillo had multiple .38 revolvers, but ALSO used a M-1 carbine with special soft-point (handloaded) bullets. He saw no need to play fair with those guys.
