Three Up, three down and a star in the middle with a Combat Infantry Badge deserves my full attention. He had to be a Hell of a soldier to earn those.

Three up, three down with star and a wreath in the middle. Lol.

I just read his list of medals and it is impressive. To be awarded ll those medals, CSM Plumley spent a lot of time in combat.

I started studying and reading up on Plumley's career extensively when I was attending NCO Academy back in 1989 and over the years I have read just about everything out there I could get my hands on covering his military service. I can honestly say that of all the historic military figures I have studied over the decades, Basil Plumley was the closest of them all to being the living embodiment of "The Perfect NCO".

I'll raise a glass to the man this evening and toast a life well lived in courage and honor.

IIRC he had the CIB with two stars. My dad (Army, Vietnam vet) says that is, in his opinion, the highest honor you can get.

Is it true that he never received a Purple Heart?

    Rest in piece CSM Plumley.

Plumley received the Purple Heart and eventually earned (I believe) three Oak Leaf Clusters for it, which would mean that he was awarded the Purple Heart four seperate times for being wounded in action.

Ok. My dad said he didn't think Plumley had ever gotten the Purple Heart but I guess he was wrong.

For the record, whether he had four, one, or no Purple Hearts, CSM Plumley has my utmost respect.

    RIP to a true man.

State of America: A pedophile like MJ dies and he is all over the media as a hero.... a true hero like the CMS dies and it is lost in the footnotes.
