Lately I have this fascination with finding an IWB rig that'll hold a Ruger Alaskan in .45LC/.454 Casull.

Do you guys have any stories of carrying handguns that're poorly advised or silly in their power and/or size?

I carried my AR pistol on a single point sling under my jacket into Ryans Steakhouse so it wouldnt be in the car all alone....I just didnt feel right leaving it in the car. I didnt think we would be at the range late, and, well, you gotta eat, right?

You mean like an AK pistol with the tip painted orange? No, wish I had a good story.

I don't know the guy in question personally, but as a carry permit holder in Tennessee, I wish one of his friends would take him aside and slap the **** out of him. I asked for ridiculous stuff, not retarded.

I got a Kramer shoulder rig for my Colt Delta Elite. I wore it with a casual blazer a few times in a futile attempt to justify buying such movie-ninja-cool piece of equipment.

I carry this 329 a good bit. Some say it's too much, but I like it.

I finally convinced my shooting buddy and his friend to get their CCW's. The other guy bought a full sized XD in 9mm with a shoulder rig, and by buddy is convinced he's going to carry his five seven every day. Sure guys, talk to me in 6 months.

    My google-fu's pretty strong.

I actually do have that 8.375" barrel 586 I could find a shoulder rig for, maybe. That'd be pretty funny.

Oh, yeah, and they're not going to take their "carry" guns to the range to qualify. That would be too EXPENSIVE. They're bringing their .22s.

I guess running 20 rounds a year through your 5 7 is enough "training time".

    That's retarded.

Now, here, you can qualify with whatever you want, and it's not linked to your permit at all, so you can carry whatever you want also, provided it's a handgun.

Not making any effort whatsoever to be proficient with one's weapon is a little off-putting, though.

I used to carry a Grizzly .50 w/comp in a crossdraw holster. I didn't do it all that much and I'm glad I never had to use it. Bleeding out my ears wouldn't be all that much fun. I'd never carry something that powerful again. I've settled on the .44 mag/.44 Automag as my personal power ceiling for self defense.

I've also carried a 3" .44 mag for years and would do so again.

Oh, and when I get my Wildey .44 Automag I will carry it on occasion.
