I was emptying boxes from our move, (I dumped EVERYTHING into boxes and moved it :faint:) Now comes the discarding.....
Anyway, I found a beer bottle opener RHEINGOLD.
I remembered the "jingle", evidently the last Rheingold was 1963...so, good jingle right?
    Boy, I'm old

    Saw this in Wikipedia:
The company shut down four years after the construction of the twin towers of the World Trade Center was completed. During the cleanup of the WTC site following the collapse of the towers on September 11, 2001, numerous Rheingold beer cans were found in the rubble, having been hidden in the beams of the building decades earlier by construction workers who had drunk the beers on the job. Coincidentally, exactly 12 years before the 9/11 attack, on 11 September 11, 1989, the New York Times had published an article that included an old (circa 1960s) radio jingle for Rheingold beer:

My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer.
Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer.
It's not bitter, not sweet; it's the dry flavored treat.
Won't you try extra dry Rheingold beer?

Speaking of Old Beer, anyone recall BREW 102 in Los Angeles, like $0.79/6pack. Brewery was on Santa Anna Freeway Way to Commerce, CA.

It was beer, nasty cheap rot gut.

What I remember of Rheingold was that they had a wide mouthed small bottle that the cap had a pull tag that split the cap nd removed the whole thing.
I think there is still a church key out in my tool box. It was used to open some types of oil cans or adetive cans. Remember them?

One of my grandfather's favorites (along with with Schaefer and Ballantine's). I got sips as a child. It was delicious; beer has never tasted as good since.

When I was a kid living in the metropolitan NY listening area Ballentine was the beer sponsor for the Yanks, Schaefer did the Dodgers and Rheingold sponsored the Giants.
"Make the friendly 3 ring sign, ask the man for Ballentine"
"My beer is Rheingold the dry beer"
"Here is the beer both light and dry, the name of the beer is Schaefer Pale Dry"
