If it's for home protection and you know that your family's life might depend on it, will you go for a relatively unknown, cheap and with no known good reputaion as a house gun?

The revolver prove to be cheap but how about availability of spare parts and reliability. Save the money and buy an Armscor.

For me, there is no lang when it comes to home defense. I'd rather cut down on competition shooting than sell myself and my family short by buying an untrusted/unknown gun for home defense use.

That being said, what your brother can probably do is research on the brand and see if people have any negative or positive comments on it. Try to look for friends who actually own a Rexio revolver and ask what their experiences are with it. He might ask the seller if it's possible to try out the gun that is being sold at a range. After he has bought the gun, he should run at least 200 rounds of ammo (both range ammo and his home defense load) through it (not all in one sitting of course, since revolvers can lock up due to excessive fouling after about a hundred rounds) to see if it's reliable. Only then would I consider the gun trustworthy for home defense.

    P.S.

I jusr realized that you mentioned the revolver is a snubby. Since it will be used for home defense, there's no need to skimp on barrel length as it won't be carried concealed. Wouldn't your brother want to consider another revolver with a longer barrel (more accurate, greater velocity of projectiles)?

i would never use a cheap gun to protect myself and my family a snubnose is not a good choice for home defense. if the only purpose of buying a firearm is home defense then get a shotgun.

I was looking for the web site of Rexio Firearms but I came up with squat. Does anyone have a working link? And no, it isn't www.rexio.com :(

Well, I'm sure that Rexio is probably a formidable sounding name in the brand's country of origin, and there have been other brands that have done well either in spite of or partly due to their name.

Kimber, for example, sounds like a baby diaper.

Also, Gerber (the knife) makes me drool thinking of delicious baby food

Sorry! I didn't spot this right away.

The Rexio revolvers come from Lasserre, Sociedad Anomina, in the
city of Avellaneda, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Their
company website was deleted last year. What I understand is that
Forjas Taurus had acquired a stake in the company around 2001-2002,
increasing it over time, with an eye towards restructuring or even
outright absorption into Taurus. They certainly still exist, and
their old-school .357 sixgun is marketed in the US by SGS FireStorm
    as the "Commanche III".

From owners' comments on the 'net, Rexio guns are a bit rough in fit
and finish, but are durable. The triggers want smoothing, but I've
not heard tell of unreliability or inaccuracy.

PS: "Rexio" has Latin, regnal underpinnings :)

PB Dionisio is the distributor and importer of Rexio Jaguar. If i remember right, a 4 inch barrel model sells for around 7-8k.

It was one of the raffle prices given away during the PB Dionisio Level 2 IPSC match 2 years ago.

A longer barreled Jaguar goes for P8k? That makes the offer of bertud's brother's officemate of P10k for a Rexio Jaguar snubby seem a bit too much.
