Appears to be a simple case of LEO dropping the armed and dangerous criminal.

I don't think I'd care to be an unarmed security guard, the first person any criminal would target.

Another thug who won't be able to spread his stupid gene's, and taxpayers get a break too. Win-win.

Good for him. I hope the state reimburses him for his 10 seconds of being unretired.

    Good shootin!

A few months ago here in Indy... we had an idiot go into a Krogers and take an unarmed security guard hostage. He ended up getting shot several times by the manager of the store. Now I see those same unarmed security guards, still working in those grocery stores....

    Krogers didn't learn a thing.

I think it shows how training and experience can come into play. My hat is off to the retired officer. Good shoot.

Overall, retired LEOs certainly seem to do more than their fair share of keeping the public safe. Guess it's true that while you can take a person out of LE, it's much, much harder to take LE out of that person.

Once a cop, always a cop.

An unarmed security guard IS A SCARECROW! Northing more, nothing less. They are for show and the stores do not expect them to do anything but scare way the wanna-be thieves.

They are told, like the rest of the employees, to submit and let go all but the weakest of shop lifters.

Security companies have to wear UNIFORMS if they were armed and the weapons exposed. And if they had a CHL they could not carry the gun concealed while working for the security firm. But this retired trooper still had a peace officers commission and thus still a 'cop' even while not employed as a cop!

And I bet the robber was expecting compliance from everyone there and before his OODA loop could comprehend the change in the situation he was dead.

Jeff Cooper opined about how fast ruthless action could completely change the situation. Well it did!

    Good job Sir!

Excellent job on the Trooper's part. This is a good example for us all to learn from. Be careful out there and remember your situational awareness.
