NCRPO reported that thre(3) policemen, (1) a member of the Philippine Navy and a government official were among the 11 people arrested in the first few hours of the implementation of the total gun ban on Sunday, the National Capital Regional Police Office said.

PO1 Aldrin Almanzan, SPO1 William Ronquillo, Navy's S1BM Michael Basahan PO1 Dennis Quinto :rofl: and Lawyer Tecson John Lim, the provincial administrator of Quirino province.

im not happy to see these LEO's being a victim of this gunban implementation. i know they have a good reason to carry.

sana ang masama sa list of violators are bank robbers, holduppers, etc etc

it's a good thing they are evenhanded in applying this, or at least trying to make an appearance of evenhandedness.

i have been asking some people in the peace and order community, so far the consensus seems to be that street crime levels are basically unaffected by the gun ban (which is not to say that it IS the truth definitely). election related crime goes up during gun ban, since it IS election period. is the gun ban effective(ineffective) one way or another, it doesn't seem to be.

    Couple gunned down in Batangas
By Dennis Carcamo (philstar.com) Updated January 11, 2010 09:26 AM

MANILA, Philippines – A couple were killed after being gunned down by two men in Batangas province at dawn today, police said.

Police chief inspector Raymond Gary Mayuga, San Pascual chief of police, identified the victims as Leopoldo Cordero, who instantly died from bullet wounds, and his wife Tarcila.

Initial report said the couple, on board a Tamaraw jeepney with some companions, were on their way to a public market in Bauan, Batangas, around 5:30 a.m. when gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle tailed them.

The suspects fired on the victims' vehicle then sped away after the incident.

Mayuga, meanwhile, withheld the victims' companions pending interrogation.

Police are eyeing business rivalry as a possible motive.

1 to 6 years, according to the Omnibus Election Code. Not probationable, and since it's a malum prohibitum offense, good faith (as in most of those cases) will not help you.

Heard it over DZBB on my way home, a seaman was shot dead with one shot to the chest when he refused to turn over his hard earned cash and belongings to three robbers. Taken from him were $2000 USD and his necklace.
