A co-worker of mine wants to get into armed security here in Hampton Roads. What are the required classes that he has to take in order to recieve his DCJS license? And does anybody have any good refrences on schools?

He would need both the unarmed and armed classes. I don't know who teaches them in the Tidewater area, but it Roanoke it's www.pss-range.com

Thanks for links and input fellas. His hours at work got cut, so he is going to do security at night. If he like it, he's thinking on making it a career.

I worked security for 18 months to pay for my health insurance. It's very boring work, but it paid my bills.

You might want to suggest to your co worker to take a look at the available jobs and what they pay. security jobs be it unarmed or armed pay terrible in this area. And for what they pay atleast 90% of the works are piss poor. Just a heads up before forking out some cash! If you shoot me a pm i'll tell you a few places to avoid for sure. Best of luck.
