I finally got to the range with both of my G17s today and shot them side by side. I shot some Remington UMC and some Federal 115gr FMJ loads. I can confidently say that the Gen4 gun shoots a little softer than the Gen2 gun. The recoil not only seems less, but it seems like there's less snap to it also. There's definitely a perceptible difference. I'm not convinced that it's a meaningful difference though. I hesitate to try and assign a percentage value to the difference, but my guess would be that the Gen4 feels like about 80% of what the Gen2 does.

I've still not had any problems with my Gen4. I've now tried three different brands of ammo and experienced no failures of any sort.

I wonder if its the same for the G22 3 Gen VS the G22 4th Gen. Thanks for the update on the G17s

If you have any +P SD ammunition would you be willing to try them side by side and then do a report on that?

I messed around with a Gen4 G22. So it's in the back of my head right now. Of course, I'm not too sure just yet. The grip texture is the "Sicking" point.

    No pun intended. :whistling:

Ihave a Gen 3 22 RTF and a new Gen 4 22 and the Gen 4 recoil is easily 80 % softer and shoots more accurately!!!

I'll definitely do that, but I'm not sure when I'll get back to the range. I wish that I'd thought of it this morning. I speculate that the Gen4 will eventually be assigned to home defense duty, so I will definitely need to run some Gold Dots through it first (and also get some night sights).

    It's pretty nice
I've got a Gen 4 22 and it's got about 1,500 rounds through it. Federal 180 FMJ, Blazer Brass 180, Blazer Aluminum 165, Speer Lawman 155, 165 and 180, Golden Saber 165 and 180 both in bonded and regular, 155, 165 and 180 Speer Gold Dot and GD 180 SB, HST 135, 155, 165 and 180 and Winchester RA40B. Not a failure yet. It shoot's similar to my 3rd gen Glocks though I think the failure to return to battery has been completely rectified with the dual recoil assembly. I've cleaned it twice, once after about 600 rds. and again at about 900 rds. It's a nice gun and seems very light and thin after shooting an M&P.40 the last year.
