as far as I have read, the safety only needs to be there for import purposes. The half cock safety on these pistols is a much better way to carry them than the crappy/unsafe add on safeties. Many times the safety does nothing at all or causes functioning problems.
all my toks with safeties (yugo & polish) have had no issues, however i did handle a yugo with a safety that made it nearly impossible to fire more than 1 shot.

ive been thinking of doing either that or machining a plug with the lip for the pin retainer.
