I figured id put this up in case anyone was considering this gun. Now, ive always gave my 1911 toting friends a hard time when they experienced an FTF on the range, and had to buy 10 different magazines to find one the gun liked. Ive always respected the beauty of the 1911 but turned my nose up at its reliabilty. But, back in May I took the plunge and bought a Remington R1 Stainless. I was nervous, before i left the shop I had some range time and a Wilson 47d to try. I ran 100 round of RWS match grade ammo through it with no problems then I ran a box of 230gr Rangers which is my carry in .45 with no problems. As of Semptember 18, the gun now has 2,100 rounds with one jam which I attribute to using a friends worn out magazine. I am beyond pleased with the pistol, and pleasantly suprised, And love to laugh when my buddies Kimber jams and my $400 less Remington runs circles around it. I have also since added a Wilson medium range trigger, Wilson hammer, grip safety, and thumb safety and sometimes Ill leave my EDC G19 in the safe and carry the R1. Great 1911

That's great news. That's why I love my Colts. They run and run.

I have three 1911's Taurus, Rock Island Compact and the Remington R1. I like the Remington the best. It just feels really good in my hands and no problems what so ever. Next will be the Stainless Steel R1S

This is a pleasing report.. I've had a few 1911's, and also had reliability issues with them... I've given them a hard time on a few threads, but the it's tough to resist buying another because they do feel so nicely in my hand and ease of lead-on-target is always attractive... I just may have to by another in either the R1 Remington of the Ruger SR...

That's great it's working out well for you but I would hardly consider 2100 even close to a high round count.

2100 rounds is just broken in,......far from a hi round count.
    Great review though!

I've been holding out for a Ruger SR1911 but have yet to see or hold one. All the LGS "just sold one" or are awaiting delivery....same with local gun shows. I may just break down and get the Remington R1 Stainless.

edit: The picture is small and hard to read, but this offer is good for any R1 purchase from 10/01/12 through 11/30/12. Offer is valid for standard blued model, stainless model, and the enhance model. Choose between a 2 year NRA membership or a $50 rebate check.

Damn you for posting this! I keep looking at R1s but keep talking myself out of it.

I hate you so much... well my wallet hates you to be more exact.

True....but to a penny pinching college student and the price of .45 ACP considered, to me and my wallet, its a high round count.
