I'm getting serious about a 1911, in the price range of these two. Does anyone have an opinion about which of these would be the best choice? I like the idea of an adjustable rear sight (R1), but would be OK without that if the gun (Desert Eagle) was sure to shoot point-of-aim. The trigger is very important to me and I read in the forums that the Desert Eagle trigger is second to none. DE is a liittle less $$ too. Might anyone have both or have shot both? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Joe

The DE is alot better choice than the R1 IMO.

The R1's I have personally experienced, have been bottom of the barrel. They may make for a great base gun, but I personally wouldn't buy one. The DE's are a pretty good gun right out of the box, IMO.

I prefer the Desert Eagle over any of the Remingtons.

The fitting and trigger on the DE is better. Plus, the DE doesn't have the stupid firing pin safety.
