Tell us more about factories being down and nothing being made?
Not sure nothing is being made but do you think its business as usual? Everything is shut diwn or running on reduced hours. If I cant get raw product, I cant make finished goods.
Btw, why I think this shortage will be longer is just that, not making product. In 2012-13, federal went to 24/7 production to meet demand. That is not happening.
Have been looking for some BE-86 Powder to compare with Power Pistol, It has been out of stock everywhere I looked. Actually found a couple of places that had it in stock this morning and ordered a few pounds. Price was reasonable and in line with what it was before Coronavirus.
So according to MidwayUSA’s website this morning, they do not have a single smokeless powder in stock.
With limits on primers it’s not worth the hazmat shipping charge if I can’t stock up on powder as well.
Bullets are also getting hard to find at a reasonable price. Looking for 124 or 125 gr HP for 9mm and 357 Sig. They are available if you search long enough but price is on the high side.
Again. Most non essential businesses are on short staff. Add all this BS covid, BLM riots, defund police, it is getting worse before it gets better imo.
I was able to find most everything I needed to start a new-to-me caliber (dies, powder, cases) at Midsouth. They don't have the cast bullets I'm looking for but have been looking for an excuse to get into casting.
I just went in, added WST to my cart but thete are no small pistol anything.
Check out the 9mm bullets in 124 or 125 gr. Cheapest bullet in stock is 25 cents each. The only 9mm in stock below the 25 cent each price is a 115 gr FMJ.
I'm taking up 45-70.
Thats insane pricing.
You're talking BULLETS?
Like Fred said, " that's insane ..."
Yes, bullets not loaded ammo.
And youre paying that?
Im still seeing 124 grain FMJ's and plated for around $94-$99/1000. More than it used to be by about $25, but still, not $0.25 a bullet.
No, not paying that price, just pointing out the availability and price for that site, I was looking for HP to load 357 Sig. Did find some Zero 125 gr JHP for 13 cents a round delivered and ordered 500. Normally use X-treme 124 gr HP but they are out of stock.
Why are you bothering with HP, Especially plated? If you are punching paper or steel, coated lead works just fine, even in 357sig.
I want a bullet profile close to what I use for self defense rounds, and the HP bullets from X-treme are only a little over a penny more per round.
I think powder will start to become the most available of the 3 major components. You won't be buying powder if you can't get primers. Bullets are also worthless without primers but I'd guess those that have primers would need bullets before powder. Just a guess.
Bullets are by far the lowest priority.
I just received 3000 coated 124s and 1000 coated 147s from ACME bullets for $300 delivered. Quick delivery too. Not as cheap as it has been, but still reasonable.
