We already are. There's tons of people with their own Internet blogs about how they were wronged by this/that/the other thing/guy/person/entity.

Hey...I know it sucks and all, but having a gun when your license did expire is here like carrying a concealed gun without the CC license in your area.
It's really easy to renew the license at the first place.
    It's not expensive.
There is a date on your license, so it's easy to figure out when You should renew it.
It's every gun owners' obligation here and it's not really any hassle at all.
This guy did mistake and now is blaming the police.
    You know what?
    I'm not buying his story.

"I know who's going to respond and how. Let me be clear: I am not one of those "pry it out of my cold, dead hands" guys. No one in the city but a copper ought to have a handgun. And so on."

The same folks that stripped the citizens of Canada of their handguns just stripped this wacko of his shotgun. This should be a lesson the the non-handgunners out there.
Many times I've heard, "Naa, I'm not worried, their only going after handguns. They're not about to take hunting rifles or shotguns away. Who really needs a handgun anyways." Irritating to say the least. Well, I wonder if he gets the "foot in the door" concept now.

Well, the emotive writing by the blogger sure didn't help his credibility. :uglylol:

He didn't have a problem with the government seizing handguns, but he wants to piss & moan now? Tough, he got what he deserved.

I agree. People like this are where the term "sheep" came from.

The only reason for a government to register any gun is to subsequently take it away. Sadly, people fall for it every time. :dunno:

I'm not trying to give you personally a hard time Nestor. I know how much you value your new found freedom/opportunity in your adopted home country of Canada, but just because Canuckistan doesn't suck as much as your former ComBloc home of Poland (politically speaking of course) doesn't mean that Canuckistan isn't heading down the same sewer-pipe as socialist Europe.

It's Canada. If they want police showing up on Sunday morning because the registration expired on a single barrel shotgun - then I hope they're happy.

In the US - shouldn't even be a consideration that your legally purchased home long gun needs annual .gov blessing, approval and taxation. We should remain vigilant to keep it that way.

And greetings to my GT buddy Nestor.

No one in the city needs a handgun, but the gov was wrong to take his shotgun.

Permit has an expiration date, but no one from the gov told him to renew.

    Got it.

Y'all will forgive me if I don't cry for the beret-wearing journalist.

    Hiya :)
license is valid here for 5 years and the long gun registry may disappear soon for good.
However as long as it's still here I believe that the law abiding citizen should follow the rules.
I don't know who said that we are stripped of our handguns here, but he was misinformed.

Handguns are restricted which means You need to register every, single one.
    Those are mine.
    It's easy and fast.

    I said it.
I admit the term "stripped" does not accurately describes the handun possession situation in Canada. It is better than what they have in England, but far worse than what we have here in New York.
I will do my homework and find out what rights you do have up there.

I will make it easier for Ya.
I can travel with my handguns 24/7/365 all around the province as long as those are secured in the lockable case with the trigger lock on and are not loaded.
The same apply to the AR15.
I can walk all over the place with the loaded bolt rifle, lever rifle, shotgun, M14, CZ 58 24/7/365 without any problem as those firearms are non-restricted (if I'm traveling the above guns should be unloaded though).
    Would I do it?
    Probably not.
    However it's legal.
Are the gun laws terrible here?
Obviously not (especially if the long gun registry will go away).
Is it worse than down the border?
    Absolutely.
However I can own a short barreled shotgun or AR which is a big no no in the USA.

    BE CAREFUL WITH THIS WEBSITE.

I took a link to the gun maps page linked on the story and left the window open for about 5 minutes. My antivirus triggered on two trojans that were trying to get on my machine. The popup blocker triggered also saying the website was trying to install files on my machine and then my AV shut it all down.

    Sorry Fred.
    I missed your post somehow.
    Yes, You are absolutely right.
However, as I said, maybe the long gun registry will become history soon.
That's the first step on a long way to the standards that You guys may enjoy on the daily basis.
