This antique pocket watch belonged to Red Skelton (1913-1997), famous entertainer and apparently an avid collector of fine watches.

My neighbor and close friend recently acquired it and is interested in learning more about this watch in particular -- approximate year crafted, maker, etc? We believe it to be of English origin and probably made in the late 19th to early 20th century, but neither one of us claim to be an expert and it's rare enough we can't find similar examples online.

I know GT patrons to have a vast collective experience and knowledge, so I figured this was a natural place to go. In any case, I hope you enjoy the pictures detailing the fine craftsmanship that I feel is lost forever. Enjoy. Cheers!

From a valuation perspective, a lot will depend on whether your friend can prove it was Red Skelton's. Is there any sort of documentation from the estate proving he owned it?

By itself, it could be worth a lot, but as a 'celebrity collector's item', that proof would influence its value.
