What kind of red dot scope is recommended for a Glock? Is there a special rail that has to be installed? I was told that one can hook it up through the pins. Now, in the Open division is optics legal in GSSF Matches? I think they are, but I'm really not sure of the actual ruling since I only shoot my .22 with a red dot? I appreciate any information you can give me. I was thinking of putting a scope on the G34.

You may use any sighting systems in Unlimited/Masters Category. Best mount is the Carver Mount, available in several styles. I suggest the Weaver/Hunter model so that you may retain your stock sights.

There are several "Red Dot" optics on the market. One of the more popular is the C-More and the other is the Tasco PDP5CMP which is no longer produce. The PDP5CMP has the advantage of varible dot size (4,8,12&16 MOA)where as the C-More is fixed. There are others "Red Dots" Optima, Aim Point, Nikon, Bushnell, Burris, BSA and Leupold just to name a few!;) You will definitly want to install whatever "Red Dot" you prefer on a "Carver Mount"!;f

I strongly recomend the Carver Hunter!
The craftsmanship is outstanding and Mr. Carver is one of the most helpful shooter/vendors you'll ever deal with!
Worth every penny, I suggest RED!

Glockess: I was thinking of same thing for my 34 as I can't bear to do anything else to my beloved 17, and just missed phorvick's sale of same mount for $85; but it'll certainly be a Carver when I do it - totally elegant design, just makes so much sense. (Black would've worked for me but, as Rikki indicates, you may want to make your own fashion statement. The well-dressed Glock has more confidence, perhaps? ;f) Good luck at Indy!

Thanks Danny on the model tip, 'cause I would want to retain the irons. (and will use your tip about early shooting & score-sheet turn-in as you scripted when I go to Oakdale next month) ^c

Edit to Glockess: Or you may want to check if Tony's still got his black one for sale .

i have a docter sight on a 17C that i use in the UL category. i dont have any experience with other red dots so i cant give any comparison info. but the docter sight has worked well for 18 months...and it mounts right in the factory rear sight mount with an adapter.

Glockess56 - I don't have the mount mentioned above anymore, but I just put a Carver competition mount with Aimpoint CompC SM combo on GT under "Gun Parts & Accessories." This mount does require the removal of the sights from the slide, but it positions the sight as low as possible, which helps in keeping the dot on target during recoil & allows quicker shot recovery. As several have said & I second, the CARVER Mount is simply the best. Take care & good luck in Indy. I'll be there, shooting on Sunday. Tony.

You will be missed, my friend. I was hoping you'd be able to make last-minute plans. We'll certainly see you in Conyers, if not before then! Take care, Pete! (P.S. - Welcome again to the team!)

    glockess56,

I see you are in Columbus. I have a C-more on a G34 that you can take a look at. I also have a slide-riding Optima around here somewhere.

I am located near Polaris. I'll also be at the Circleville USPSA match this Saturday (July 3).

One of my shooting buddies has switched back to a tube site. I'm not sure if he will be at the match this weekend of not.

Let me know if you want to take a look.
