Since I do a good amount of it, I'd like to get a better grade digital temperature probe unit than that which I'm currently using (a grocery store Farberware unit), that will do two sources, use industry standard "K" style (thermocouple) connectors for it's temp probes, have adequate audible/visual alarms, and maybe even wireless operation with it's own remote. I've tried one of the latter, an inexpensive $29.99 Char-Broil unit from Lowe's, but it pooped the bed in only 6 months of use :(

I'll gladly pay for a decent unit. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I don't have this but if I were looking for what you describe this is the one I'd buy. I have a thermapen and one other hand held probe instant read from Thermaworks and both have been excellent.

I suggest reading the professional reviews at amazingribs.com

There are dozens of great reviews and not by consumers but real pro analysis.

I have a thermoworks thermapen MK4 and love it. While it doesn’t do what you’re talking about. I wouldn’t hesitate to use their applicable product and probably would had we not gotten a smoker with similar capability(Mak 2 Star General)

I have a ThermoPro TP-20 and it works just fine. It comes with 2 probes. I use one probe in the meat and the other on the grate or dome to measure internal temperature. I use my TP-20 during the cook and then use a instant thermometer to do the final check.

I have the Weber igrill one, works great, has bluetooth so you can connect it to your phone with the app.

I'm a big fan of ThermoWorks products. FYI - be sure to not get a knock-off/they don't sell on Amazon...check their website to either buy directly or through an authorized reseller.

Depends what kind of bbq you have.

You could get one that does all of the above PLUS controls the temp of the bbq, not just read it. If you have a big green egg or similar, it will regulate the temp by controlling the draft door.

DigiQ. That was recommended to me , I’m on the same search.

You want at least 2 channels so you have constant monitoring of internal meat temp and cooker temp.

    Pro Tip :
DO NOT SUMBMERGE probe cables in water for cleaning purposes.
Wipe off probe tip with rubbing alcohol and then store.

For a spot check tool, it's the Thermapen.
