Hey everyone, I want to put night sights on my mil-spec, but I am not sure which ones will work with my front sight since it does not have the dovetail looking cut. Is my front sight part of the slide?

What will work with the gun without having a front dovetail cut? What brands do you guys like?

Thanks,

Nathan

Springfield uses a front sight that is wider than the narrow, but narrower than the wide.
You have to get the wide and file it to fit.
The rear is a normal "mil-spec" such as on the Colts and all of the other normal 1911's in the lower price ranges.
Also be careful staking the front night sight... it is easy to damage the vial.
Look at Brownells for a staking tool and also a device that protects the front night sight from damage.
Sometimes it is cheaper to have a smith do it for you.

Ya, I was just gonna have my smith do it. Could you guys give me any links for the correct ones to order? I'd rather not have to file anything down...
