I'm trying to find a DVD player that will play Region 2 discs (Europe). It can be Region 1 (U.S.) + 2, or All. It appears they don't list this information with other technical details in the advertising or on retailers websites. Does someone know of a model that will play Region 2?

Additional features don't matter (in fact, the fewer the better, to keep the price down). I just need to be able to play discs from England.

I have yet to find one that does that. Good luck.

I don't know if it's still the case, but the Apex players used to be able to do this. Wasn't out of the factory obviously, but you could push a sequence of buttons on your remote I think and it'd take you to a screen to either make it region free or change the region on the player.

Maybe check out the Phillips players too. I think some used to advertise as region free.

The region setting can be changed on most DVD drives for PC's, but you can only have one region set, you can't have it read both regions 1 and 2, and usually you can only change the setting 5 times and it becomes permanent.

I think you'll have a problem finding a standalone player with that capability as it would defeat the purpose of region encoding the disks.

The other option would be to rip the DVD and re-burn it, removing the region coding completely.

Oh, pay attention to the NTSC/PAL thing and if your disk is PAL make sure the DVD player can translate.
