So we all read horror stories here about recent production Gen 3 Glocks (and Gen 4) but I wanna hear some stories about properly funtioning Glocks, particularly recent production Gen 3 9mms but anything is welcome.

I had a brand new Gen 3 G22 for about a month at the beginning of 2011 but I ended up selling it to a buddy after only 100 rounds because the recoil was too much for me at the time.(I now have a Gen 4 G22 that I can shoot just fine BTW.) Although I didn't like the recoil, I never had any issues with BTF or any other malfunctions, although 100 rounds is hardly a fair test.

As much as I like my G22 Gen 4, I still prefer to shoot 9mm Recently I've been thinking of getting a new Gen 3 17 or 19 (maybe even a 26) but I'd at least like to know someone out there has one that works properly before I seriously consider it.

So, let's hear about your recent production (post Gen 4 intro), problem free Gen 3 Glock.

Glock 23 3rd gen TCXxxx, May 2012, all Austria made.

353 rounds so far. Shoots to point of aim at 25'. No malfunfuntions. 1 case straight back (maybe) at around shot #90. I say maybe, because the brass could have bounced off of the partition wall at the range.

This is my 5th Glock and I am very pleased with it.

I've come to the conclusion that at least 70% of the "Glock Quality" issues have no foundation. Yeah, you have to hold the pistol tight and shoot good quality ammo, and no mechanical device is free from Murphy.

But my Glock's are all fairly recent and function 100%. The only Glock I've had trouble with was an old Gen 2, and I cured 90% of my BTF issues by holding it tighter...

Good to hear so far guys.

Talo has a bunch of Gen 3 Glocks right now with Ameriglo CAP sites and they look pretty interesting. I'm kinda thinking about a 17 or 26 with this option

I have had no issues with my gen 4 26 or 17 through roughly 600 rounds each. My gen 3 26 and 17 are from 2006 and 2008 respectively with no issues either after 500 rounds. You will not be disappointed!:wavey:

My department used Gen3 17's and 19's. No issues. Not one. Now we use Gen4 guns and all the guns issued to patrol (the 17's) come with lights. Once again no issues.

My off duty is a Gen3 23C I recently purchased. No issues. I've seen some a few non department people have issues locally but in my hands the issues disappeared. The issues have come down to limp wristing and most of the time disappear if you show them that just because it is a light gun doesn't mean you shouldn't still use a firm grip.

IMHO - I think that because it's a light gun it demands a firm grip.
