Sorry Rail... But there are 'far more' 45 acp's on the planet than any of these other calibers you've mentioned here... Not relevant you say?! It's still a 'Very relevant' caliber for SD, and Comp shooters as well... It will 'Always be a relevant caliber..'

You said it all in the sentence..."The 9mm now fills the cheap low recoil niche that is popular.."

Amigo, Folks always gravitate to cheap and easy... But this, does not alienate, or make irrelevant, the 45 acp. Never will. ;)

I'm still a .45 ACP dweeb. Were I still on the street it would be my P-220 as primary strong side. I love that firearm as a duty gun but I did always have a 2nd on my weak side.

The main issue now is weight and size. I'm not out to save the world now or make pinches but my main home defense pistol is still the P-220 loaded with flying ashtrays. The 1911 still always make the trip to the range with me. Why fix what isn't broken? The only reason I went to 9mm for duty was I got a job that required a lot of walking and standing and I'd done got old.

I like them both……9 mm mostly because of ammo prices and .45 because i just like it.
I have been a 1911/45 guy for 40+ years. I just dont like carrying one unless it is on a duty belt. The 9 in a subcompact is an easy all day ccw. So is my alloy Comm, but it isnt fun to shoot A lot. I have been off the 1911 for about 5y but now back to it this year. So my Comm is now in my ccw rotation.

I love the .45. I always feel confident carrying my 9mm but idc what anyone says, a 45 will do more damage than a 9. I love my G30 and carry it the most.
Fed the right ammo, a bit more.

platform size. I have small hands. I do like 1911’s but I also like the G19 and 48.
I am looking forward to a 48. I prefer the single stack Feel.

I love mine. My only complaint is my index finger runs against the bottom of the trigger guard. I would like an extended slide stop and mag catch from the factory, but they don’t make them. I might try vickers tactical. To me it’s the “1911 Glock.”

I dont need an extended slide release, just gets in the way. I use a modified extended mag release on my other glocks, basically file off the serrations & new serrations.

I put away my Staccato C2 and went back to a Dan Wesson Valor VBOB in 45 acp.

I have a 30sf, other .45s. When i started training in actual pistol defense drills I was shocked at the difference in accuracy for follow-up shots and rapidly hitting vital areas with .45 vs 9mm. I was totally a "bigger hole" guy. Now im definitely a "shot placement", "capacity" geek. 🤓
