Okay...so the more I check out the EMP in 9MM from SA, the more I am loving them. I currently do not own any guns in 9, but have nothing at all against the cartridge.

Anybody here own one and if so, how much do you like it? Any idea on what the going rate is for a new one in your area?

I checked one out in Henderson, NV about two weeks ago. Tag was for $949 IIRC.

You can find them for under 1k. I have heard nothing but good things about them. It's on the list of buys for me, but it's down the list a bit. I handled one a couple weeks ago and it fit nice. Seemed very well made.

    Go for it!

IF you're in the market and come across a used one... Be sure that it's not one of the earliest. The serial #s are conventionally numbered... Lower the #, the earlier the production. I'd think that above 1000 would be good to go.

Below 1000 and there were some teething problems.

Are these built on the body of a .45 or designed for the 9mm?

Everything I have done thus far for research of the weapon states that they took the 1911 platform and completely re-designed it from square one specifically for the 9MM cartridge. There is also one available in .40 S&W.

    Nice pistols.

I have read several reports of people having feeding problems but SA paid for shipping both ways and did lots of custom work (polish the feed ramp, throat the barrel etc....) on them and they work perfect now.

I personally think they are too expensive but if I REALLY wanted one I would drop the coin, expect to send it back at least once and enjoy it.
