For some reason rats invaded my storage shed. Nothing in there for them to eat. They took up residence anyway, and multiplied. I tried poisons, traps, leaving door open for cats to search and destroy.

After a while they all disappeared. Now they are in my house. Again I set out traps, did not catch a single one. Poisons, they avoided, or carried off and kept coming back for more.
They are almost as big as my cat. She has killed a few of them, I worry about them hurting or killing her. She is a small cat and now old and a bit slower.

What brand of rat poison have you used that works? Sometimes I can hear the nasty critters squeaking, and running around under the kitchen cabinet, gnawing on the cabinets. I can hear them in the walls too.

I hate the nasty things and want them out of my house. What is an effective bait, poison that will not hurt my cat?

Clean everything with bleach, spray some bleach around the place, I heard the smell drives them out.

Oh, you've got a cat, that might bother her too, though.

Rats, like any animal gotta' eat. There must be some food that is keeping them around. Are there bird feeders in your yard or at a nearby neighbor's?

Do you have dirty neighbors...? Rats just don`t come in for no reason. We had a rat problem for awhile, later found out that the neighbors were dumping their garbage out on the property lines between us down into a small gully. Between poison and shooting them, that was the only way we could get rid of them out of our house. We called in the complaint to the county, they investigated the neighbors, they no longer live next to us, and the rat problem finally went away.

Man you’ve got to find out where they’re getting in and seal all that up. May want to call a pest control business honestly, may be your best bet with the weather getting cold and all and them multiplying, you’ll be overrun with them in no time. I can’t STAND rats, makes my skin crawl.

Remove food source. Then it’s hunting time. Mean dog, fast moving lead, live traps, sticky traps, you name it. They always seem to laugh at poisons but put it out as well.

Remove their food source, contact your local rat hunter service and get their rat poison. Ultra sonics do not work. Traps will work but you have to use peanut butter or bacon!

I caught one in my crawl space with a rat trap a few weeks ago. No rats for years prior, but I get chipmunks and mice often. I bait with peanut butter. I'll put out some of those TomCat poison bars in the crawl as well, but can't say how effective they are. If using poison in the house, you may have to live with the smell of a dead one in the wall.

Not an option. Cat does the best she can. Rats need to all be eliminated quickly. Not just a few a month.

Chipmunks don't bother us. Afraid of cat, and stay away from house. Tried peanut butter, traps, TomCat poison bars too.

We have sealed off every opening we can find. Even the little ones that don't look like a baby lizard could get through. Sealed cracks in foundation too. Poured cement in every hole in yard.

Thank you, just ordered some from Amazon. tried Dcon and TomCat. They kept eating it, and not dying.
