Doctor Sleep was very good. Can't say I like it better than the shining. There's something about a movie directed by Stanley Kubrick that's pretty hard to surpass for drama especially with Jack Nicholson in the lead role.

I liked how Dr sleep was a much different story but about how it tied in with the original at the end.

My other favorite Kubrick movie was A Clockwork Orange.

That movie demonstrated quite well, that casting can make or break a movie.

I am a big fan of the novel The Shining. The movie was weak adaptation. Left out the best elements of the book.

As a movie, without regards to the book, it is a good movie.

So do you think the casting made the movie or broke it?

And if you didn't like the casting, how would you change it?

Well... It's a little better than the second one. It's a shame they cast Severus Snape as the co-lead.

Actually, I thought the Matrix was a decent movie and really good sci fi, but like so many other movies that Reeves is in, it could have been much better with someone else in the lead role.

Yes, I know he is a gun guy, but there are so many better actors.

Have seen it more then once, it was on the movie channel this a.m.
Thomas Hayden Church and Paul Giamatti were perfect in their roles.
Funny movie in an adult way.

IMDB: A beautiful hæmophage infected with a virus that gives her superhuman powers has to protect a boy in a futuristic world, who is thought to be carrying antigens that would destroy all hæmophages.

    A bit of a stinker.... 4 or 5 out of 10. But........
If you want to watch Milla from 14 years ago (whew, she is not ugly....) basically reprise her Resident Evil roll in a movie with a similar plot, this would be good when nothing else is on. A low budget (well, filmed and acted like low budget), heavy on the CGI action movie.

This really isn't giving anything away... research into a drug to make "super soldiers" gets out of the lab, and basically creates vampires (haemophages they call them in the movie, but they aren't affected by sunlight). Humans fight to eradicate them.

One odd aspect of this movie.... a superbug gets out of a lab , and the population is put into a type of lockdown with everyone wearing masks. Hmm... sound familiar these days??? Then the government "Health Department" becomes all powerful with their own army to enforce laws. That made the movie moderately interesting with everything going on today.

Having said that, this is a not great movie, lol.

I can't remember the last Bruce Willis movie I've watched where he doesn't sleepwalk through the entire flick.

I was really looking forward to his remake of Death Wish, imagining him perfectly cast as Paul Kersey, but my anticipation was based upon the old Die Hard Bruce Willis. He was an animated corpse once again and the entire film was a downer for me.

I now see ads for the Edward Norton movie Motherless Brooklyn with Willis in a supporting role and hope against hope he actually is up to the quality that Norton usually brings to his roles.

At least a 6/10. Good solid, old school horror movie. IMDB description is: "When two young boys playing in the woods discover a military bunker they unintentionally release the ghost of World War II auxiliary soldier who mistakenly believes the Nazis have landed." But he's more a zombie than a ghost, but not a shambling zombie - more like a "Shock Waves" (1977) zombie, but instead of a Nazi he's a British soldier Zombie out to kill Nazis...or people in black uniforms, driving German cars, etc. Decent acting, with John Rhys-Davies as the only major actor. Also released under the name "Aux."

I saw it on Amazon Prime Video - recommended.

    Patriot's Day - 7.5/10

A lot better than I expected it to be. It's nice to see police portrayed in a positive way. Be prepared to feel angry early on then pumped in the final scenes. Free stream for Amazon prime members.

Good movie, not great. Does what a war movie should, doesn't waste a ton of time of personal lives, only a brief scene, and then jumps right into the story. If you want to get critical it's basically a car chase at sea. Wolf pack vs convoy. It's well done, acting is decent. I'd give it B- to B.

Entertaining, I would watch it again.

I'd never seen it before and I really enjoyed The Cotton Club - Encore. This gangster story set in the days of Prohibition had great musical numbers and a good story line. I really love period pieces...especially that period because I absolutely love the music. I'd give it an 8.
