I just heard a report that the lint from when you wash your synthetic fibered clothes are contributing to the micro plastic problem in the oceans.

    That is all.

They love this micro plastic bit. I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about it in the near future. It's perfect because you cannot see it and therefore it can be claimed to be everywhere.

Well the Hollywood elite think just popping dirty denim jeans in the freezer kills the bacteria and makes then like new fresh.

Funny that labs freeze bacteria to preserve it.

I can live with that the plastic problem. I can't live with unwashed clothes.

I’m still searching satellite imagery looking for the garbage island in the Pacific.

We'll, just ditch the synthetic garments for cotton ones. Oh, wait. Cotton is racist.

No Sh!t. One would think with all of the commercially available Sat views out there it would be highlighted on Google Earth. In fact, I'm surprised they didn't photoshop it in and pin it.

I bet the Chinese captured it and turned it into a mobile military installation. The Pentagon forced it to be blurred out.

China, Vietnam etc contribute some 80% of the problem with plastics in the Pacific.

Facts like this don't keep the left and environazis from screaming that the world is going to end if WE don't go to extreme measures.

Our trash company's trucks have two containers, one for recycle, one for real trash and they do recycle. We do recycle.

But...when much of the rest of the world isn't interested in recycling and the 3rd world simply can't/won't, short of savaging our economy, what we can do amounts to squat. Don

I did a little search and see a guy says this:
It's an urban myth, with a (very small) kernel of truth.

There are two areas of the Pacific which tend to trap trash, due to the circulating currents (known as 'gyres', in particular). One is much larger than the size of Texas, in fact. However, thinking its a solid heap of trash and plastic waste is nonsense...it is in fact, to the normal eye, an average patch of ocean, with only a moderately higher chance of finding a piece of trash in it than anywhere else in the sea.

That's why you'll never find pictures of any gigantic mound -- it doesn't exist.

I tend to think he is correct since even National Geographic does not provide an actual picture of it:

How do you dry a couple of pounds of freshly harvested pot? If you hang it outside on the clothesline the neighborhood kids steal it or the birds poop on it.

The "great garbage patch" cannot be seen because it's symbolic. Even the "creators" of the legend will, when pressed, admit that it never existed, but rather it was an imagination device to illustrate what it would look like if all the oceans' trash was clustered together in one location.

roll your dryer lint up and put inside paper towel tubes. add a couple ounces of lantern oil and makes a good fire starter for the wood stove.

Works with belly button fuzz too. Just throw it in a jar at day's end.
