One of my carry loads is the 147gr 9mm Gold Dot LE load rated at 990fps and 320 ft-lbs at the muzzle. I noticed the LE load is 5fps faster and has 3 more ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle than the commerical loading.

I know they use 4in test barrels for testing loads, so naturally I know that you get a little more speed with a 4.5inch barrel and it would be enough to kick it up over 1000fps. But how much more? I dont have a chrono otherwise I would test it, but has anyone here ever tested this load with a chronograph?

Not enough to make a difference in the mass of a crush cavity.

Factory fps quotes can be close, or not so close depending on the gun used. Some of the polygonal rifled guns will get higher numbers than another conventional bbl of the same length.
