You received a brand new frame from Austria.
You got REAL lucky. I'm LE and Glock would NOT pay return shipping for this "upgrade" (i.e. silent recall). I had to pay it to the tune of $55. I got back a gun with completely different serial number on the frame then the one on the slide/barrel and had to re-register the gun. It's my first post on GT, and I'd appreciate any solid information about the following question.
I have extensively researched this, but have found conflicting information.
I have a very infrequently used G23 that I purchased new in 2002 that was subject to Glock's 'frame upgrade'.
Upon hearing of that upgrade by an LE friend, I contacted Glock and they paid to have me ship the frame to them.
There was a huge backorder of frames being replaced at the time, but I received the frame back within about 3-4 weeks or so, if memory serves me correctly.
The only thing that appeared to be different was that there was a 1 that now appeared before my serial number on the frame.
I didn't think much of any of this, and have barely used the G23 since.
My question is whether this is a brand new frame that I received, that would have been made in Austria, or was it rebuilt here in the U.S., or how can I tell what was done or replaced?
I really appreciate any information, suggestions or comments.
Than you.
I had 2 "E" series, .40's a G23 and G23C both replaced by Glock on thier dime... both guns can back with the original s/n and the 1You got REAL lucky.
