No, I'm not talking about "Soylent Green" (it's made of peeeeeepul! :wow:) - but I've always thought it would be great to just buy one food by the 50 pound bag, add water (to make it's own gravy!) and then have it it.

Would be "nutrition complete" and then you wouldn't have to worry about what to make - could have it cold in the moring (ala' cereal) and microwaved at night (ala' stew) - and would be a piece of cake to measure out an amount for a specific calorie diet too.

So, where's my Purina People Chow?!

P.S. - Would be easy to store as "preps" too! :whistling:

I've eaten a dog biscuit or two in my life. They are a little bland but I would eat them in a SHTF situation.

Go ahead and make it in a handful of different flavors - but nutritionally complete, easy to fix/serve/store.

I know the comparison to "big bag of dog food" might not be appealling - but look past that and tell me what's not to like?! :)

Life boat rations are about as close to the idea that I can think of. They are fairly complete nutrition, not too bad tasting.

I always thought I'd be happy to eat just a pill :dunno:

Of course it would need to provide complete nutritional needs, curb hunger & eliminate the munchies.

On Futurama, Fry eats something similar called "Bachelor Chow".

I don't know if dry dog food has all of the nutrients and vitamins that a human needs for long term health. Some people food, or vitamin supplements might be a good idea. In some areas of Florida Alpo is a big seller amongst the elderly poor.

If you use Dog Chow long term, be careful where you sit down for a good behind-the-ear scratching, lest you get hit by a car.

i posted a question like this in the preparedness forum. someone brought up a good point. the fat content in a dry dogfood/humanfood would turn it rancid pretty quickly. not a good idea for long term storage.
