First time posting, and I'm sorry if this question has been delt with on this forum. I research it but can't find it. I got involved with pistol action shooting at my gun club. I have a G27 for my CHL, and my wifes G19. I'm been borrowing my wifes G19 for the matches, I'm going to buy a Glock 34, and get warren tacticle sights & maybe a 2lb triggle kit. But my question is Gen 3 or Gen 4? I have small to med. size hands, don't know if matters? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, John

Try both to see which fits your hand better, I have a 34 gen 3 and also have small hands. I have no problem at all with its size. I use it for IDPA matches, they are are excellent pistols.
I am sure you will enjoy either model.:wavey:

The "feel" of the the Gen 3 34 will be pretty similar to the 19. If that works for you, the 34 should also.

Having said that... the Gen4's are nice. I bought a Gen3 but my buddy got a Gen4. He loves it.

I shoot USPSA matches and in Cen TX with 104 deg I found the Gen 3 slippery. I sold all my Gen 3 for my RTF2. I say get the G4.

I have both and both are great but for competition (at the moment) I'd go for Gen3 since there aren't many heavy magwells for the Gen4s, especially with the backstraps.

Thanks for all the info, purchased a glock 34 gen 3 yesterday, warren tacticles installed this week, and 3.5 triggle kit. Getting my feet wet on competition shooting.

You didn't try the Talon grips?

    VERY sticky. Love 'em.

I think you really need to feel/hold both to make the best decision.

I have a Gen 3 G34, and simply added a segment of a mountain bike innertube to increase the grippiness. It works quite well (but there's certainly nothing wrong with going the Gen4 route).

I'm running mine with a set of Warren Tacticals as well; I painted the back face of the front sight first with white Liquid Paper for a base coat, and then with Testor's Flourescent Green. It really speeds up my sight acquisition.

Otherwise, I'm running the G34 with the OEM 4.5 minus connector, and a NY1 spring. I've posted my most accurate IDPA results in 2 consecutive matches with it, and have no qualms about using it as a carry gun in a Blade-Tech Nano IWB holster.

    Best, Jon

Thanks for the info.. I received my warren tacticals yesterday, blank rear sights with .245 front red optical, I'm hoping that .245 is the right size for front.(thats what Warren org. recommended for G34). I should receive G34 tomorrow, then have the 3.5 trigger kit installed. BTW, is an ICE MAGWELL legal for a 3 gun competition? I think I would like to try it to keep my hand up high on grip and faster reload, also thanks for the Talon Grip info, I think I might try that..
    Thanks, John

I looked up those Talon Grips, they look very nice. I think if I used the talon grip, I won't need the magwell to prevent my hand to creep down. Plus those magwells are about $75 on up.
    Thanks, John
