I posted this in the Non-Glock section but thought I'd post it here too....

I want to buy a low cost 1911 and have pretty much settled on the Taurus PT1911 based on all the decent reports I've read (both magazines and on the boards). Someone mentioned to me that it's not listed on the Calif-DJ "Safe" handgun list and cant be sold in CA. I've seen people at the range with them but haven't seen one in a gun shop. Soooooo...Anybody know if they're being sold here in Kaliforniastan?

How it legally gets into CA, when it's not on the approved list.

LEOs can buy pistols not on the approved list.

People moving to CA, can bring in handguns not on the approved list as long as they are not classified as assault weapons.

How it legally gets to other residents in CA not mentioned above.

    A LEO can PPT a non-approved handgun.

A person who just moved to CA can PPT a non-approved handgun.

Note: The majority of non-approved handguns being sold via PPT are used and usually sell for $200-300 more than what it would go for new. Example, used Kel-Tec P-3AT selling for $500.
