Palmetto State Armory has a GF3 modified to fire full-auto currently running at Battlefield Vegas (aka BFV). It has now cleared 11,200 rounds. And PSA has announced the release of their GF4 - which has a Chrome Hammer-forged Barrel. That adds about $100 to retail of the GF3. They also have announced other AK variants.

The proverbial "fork" is jammed in - all the way - into the old missive that no American-made AK is any good. I will never shoot my GF3 in the way or number of rounds that is happening at BFV - and I definitely will never physically throw one around as did Rob Ski of the AK Operators Union.

Now I have to get a GF4 - simply because Palmetto has earned it.

I’m watching their 4th generation closely. That’s what’s held me back so far, the lack of a chrome lined barrel. PSA is really stepping up.

Meh, let's see if the GF3 makes it to 80k...

UPDATE: PSAs' GF3 AK has cleared 14,750 rounds - still going. This is NOT the GF4 which is coming out - it has a chrome-lined barrel - adds $100 to the retail. Not sure what the actual price will be. Obviously a bit more but if the "crappy" non-chromed barrel can clear 14,000 rounds - that works, too.

There's probably ten people that will spend ~$16K on AK ammo for one rifle...

Most people won't shot 80K rounds of ammo in their entire lives... Maybe your bar is a little high.

Most people won't shoot a tenth of that in their lifetime, including .22s.

This is a discussion of Battlefield Vegas' use of the PSAK, not a single owner. The MAK and 10/63 receivers get to that round count, so if the PSA can do it too, then they've cracked the code.

Why do all their AK rifles have that stupid "side scope mount" on them? I hate useless junk on my AK! And none of them have cleaning rods. wtf?

I find it very useful and with a decent mount it will return to zero every time. Can't say the same for dust cover mounts. No idea why they don't include a cleaning rod, I found that odd as well. Easily found online however.

Because a scope mounted to the dust cover won't hold zero.

I get that, but on an AK? Maybe an Dragunov but not on an "assault" (style) rifle.

Do they make any in the original configuration that aren't "Tactical" with wood forend and stock or with AKM or AK63D underfolding stock?

That side rail w/a good over-the-bore mount works great with a red dot. The Saiga makes quick hits on 200 yard plates with that little TRS-25.

While I don’t have experience with PSA AKs, I do with several of their ARs and have never had an issues so it doesn’t surprise me that folks are fans of their AKs.

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an AR with a red dot, why would an AK not benefit as well?

They do make some with standard furniture, and the Magpul furniture can be easily swapped for standard furniture in a few minutes.
