It appears that UPS hired some more drivers because my PSA upper arrived about 6 hours early.

As you can see in the photos, PSA does an exceptional job of securing the product and they double boxed the whole thing.

Upon first inspection.... Excellent fit and finish. It really looks good. The bolt assembly is marked with the PSA logo and it is definately properly staked. I tried to get some photos of the feed ramp, but my lighting isn't very good. They appear to be perfectly aligned.

I attached the PSA to the SPIKES and the fit is very good. Not too tight, and not at all too loose. I cycled a few rounds from a P-Mag without a hitch in either feeding or ejecting. The P-Mag falls freely when the release is pushed.

Admittedly, I won't get to the range until tomorrow, but so far, this rifle appears to be as good, if not better, than any other AR15 I've owned. Bar none.

When I'm done, I'll have about $800 in the total assembly, including a DD1.5 rear sight and a few other touches. I'll post a complete price breakdown after the range tomorrow. I really like this rifle.

I got the same upper from UPS yesterday. Mine also looks great, and was a solid fit on both my PSA and CMMG lowers. Can't wait to get it to the range!

This is the rifle that the Dissipator is replacing. I placed them side-by-side for comparison. The Colt is an early 1985 SP2. It's in mint condition and I really don't want to use it as a shooter.

I have added the DD1.5 rear sight and Tango Down grip. I will be adding a MagPul AFG and small rails on each side of the forearm (just in case). I have an Isreali Defense Force sling for it too. Other than that, it's done.

I have a 4 sided railed forearm that I could use, but I don't plan on hanging much off the front end and it weighs more than the MagPul forearm. I prefer the DD1.5 because it doesn't fold, and it is well made. Did I say, I really like this rifle?

The Colt is a pencil barrelled light-weight. I believe it is less than 6 lbs.

I don't know what the Dissy weighs, but it is heavier than the Colt, but not by a lot. No one makes a pencil-barrelled Dissipator that I know of.... but that would be a great KISS project.

My PSA upper shipped in about 4 days and took 2 days in transit. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was worth the wait.

Very nice rifle. Im sure you guys can tell from my posts but I am super impressed with PSA, its hard to not order an upper everytime I visit the site. Here is my Dissy, it has eaten plenty of PMC brass, some Tula that a friend gave me and my reloads.

Looks good! But I'm dying to know.... why have an optic on top of a removeable carry handle? :poke:
That really is a good question, because I pondered the exact same thing. As I researched the project, I saw a lot of Dissipators with optics. I originally configured the set up as an iron-sighted rifle.... longer sight radius, made complete sense. But...

At the range, I realized I'd have problems at 100 yards and beyond, since I'm an old fart. Then it hit me.... WHY couldn't it have optics??? I still have the BUIS but with a longer sight radius for better accuracy. The carry handle is an actual Colt, and I don't have a flat-top mount for the optic.

Now, I have the best of both worlds: carbine length; rifle back-up sights; and a 4x optic..... I'll re-phrase, I have the best of 3 worlds.

Gotcha. I would offer a suggestion that you put the optic on the upper reciever directly. I see in your pics earlier in this thread that you have a DD fixed rear sight. Put that on behind the optic and you can use the irons looking through the glass. You want the sighting system on a rifle to be as close to the bore as possible.

If the view is too cluttered that way, I'd recommend a folding rear BUIS. That's what I prefer.
