Ok people, I need some help. Due to recent problems beyond my control, I have had to move to an apartment. I can't cook on a charcoal BBQ, because of the fire alarms.

Therefore, (yuck), I've had to purchase a propane BBQ. My question is simple, I think, how do you use wood chips, etc to produce smoke when you grill???

You're going to be pleasantly surprised...
You can turn out great stuff on a gas grill...

Use chips, not chunks, soaked and wrapped in tinfoil...
Poke a bunch of holes in the foil pouch and toss it on the burner rail...

Juices falling on the burners will create a bunch of flavorful smoke too...

Oil the grates before each use...

Phil, I would first check out a Weber Gas Grill. They kick *** in my opinion. They also have a great web site with plenty of recipes. As far as it goes with using for smoke, either do like mild bill said or depending on the grill you have/get you may be abel to buy an attachment for it. Let us know how you make out.

You can also get a smoker box for most propane grills.

Weber Genisis Silver B. Dont get an A model; not versitile enough w/ olny 2 burners.

Webber makes a chip smoker box but its really expensive. Two options they make cheep chip boxes for about 10 bucks. Or you can take aluminum foil and press it into a loaf pan. Layer in 4 or 5 sheets and you'll have a nice chip box that can sit on the flavorizer bar under the grate and last for a good while.
