Saturday morning rant, doing a shower remodel and everything related to plumbing that can go wrong has, broke fittings that can't easly be replaced, leaks where I'm not even working and we won't even talk about sharkbite crap, wonderful stuff unless you need to remove a piece.

I would rather sit in jail as to work with plumbing on a daily basis. Not sure I will get through this with out shooting something at least a little. Rant off, everyone have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.

Industrial plumbing is less aggravating than residential in my opinion.

But, then again, sometimes everything just goes wrong on a job.........

A girl I used to work with who was in her early 20s thought she was going to become a plumber. Her plan never got far. All I could think about were all the award positions you have to get into to work on the pipes, and this girl was around 300lbs and there was no way she would even be able to access these places.

It can't be that hard; isn't it just jumping through green pipes, stomping turtles and collecting gold coins? Actually sounds kinda fun. :D

We once had the honey-pumper come to clean out our tank. They had to park on the other side of the fence and hook up about thirty yards of hose.

The guy was on the road-side of the fence and I pulled the hose over to our tank.

He said he had been cleaning tanks all his life and I was the first customer that ever helped. He said I was actually the only customer that even touched anything.

He was a cool ol' dude and charged me only half price, "for doing all the dirty-work".

My brother-in-law worked at waste water treatment plants. One of the first jobs at each site was cleaning the "main screen". It was about 5' square.

ALL manner of flushable things would get caught. Rubbers, drugs, money (whole purses, even), watches....

He wouldn't keep any bills smaller than a $20. (He knew how to disinfect them properly).

Think about that, the next time you cash a check.

Every time I touch plumbing there is a string of profanity that does not stop until the job is done. I am glad I did not pick that profession. Under sink stuff sucks big time.

Old house plumbing is the worst....especially aggravating is a sewer system pipe that doesn't have fittings in a normal 'standard' size...
Real plumbers could tell me what they are called, there are some large fittings requiring creosote soaked rope and malleable lead pounded into the rim of the ceramic pipes....yeah.
Toilets that no longer line up with their pipes because of house settling or broken pipe hanging methods.
    I've done it all.

I'm sure there is, NOW, when I was doing plumbing work on a slum-lords' properties, there were no substitutes or adapters for that particular situation....plus this owner of run-downs was a cheap fugger who was always wanting you to take creative short-cuts to get 'er done, no matter the danger or sloppy repairs.
which is the 'why' of my quitting.

    1. Pros know what they are doing.
    2. Pros get lots of $$$ for it. (also see #1).

Edit: they also could moonlight at a meat plant cause they are the biggest butchers I ever had to work behind. (I was an electrician).

When you get to the pearly gates, you may notice an express lane over to the side labeled "plumbers"
