I have an inexpensive Lexmark Z705 color printer. It has performed pretty well for color photographs and text.

All the sudden, when using Word, Works, Notepad, etc, it prints text really crappy. There are alternating lines of heavy print followed by white lines, each line is very small. It only does this when printing text, even if I set it to *Best* quality etc. For example, I just printed a page off the net, and the graphics are fine, but the black text is screwed. Color text is perfect.

While printing images or photos, it prints just fine, even in greyscale. The ink is not low. Plenty in there. I have a refill kit I've been using for a long time.

Can't figure this one out... Tried all the troubleshooting tips on the computer already to no avail. Help!

Blow away the driver, go to the lexmark site and get the newest one and plug the printer back in and install the driver you downloaded.

Sometimes you need to get rid of the old stuff when it gets confused.
