I agree, they should pay taxes just like everybody else.

Politicians are afraid of them as they command a substantial VOTE, IMHO pagka na-tax si Bro Eddie Velarde baka kaya mong patayuan ng ilang condo ang Roxas Boulevard for the urban poor at zero cost to them.

Guys, my "kababayan" priest once told me, "once a priest, always a priest no matter what". I understand that a priest can no longer perform his priestly functions...once he deviates his priestly life. If one becomes a politician...certainly he deviates his priestly life. He cannot serve two-masters at the same time..

Still, i believe he remains a priest "en nombre". A captain without a ship..

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt at this early stage. He can't be much worse than what he is replacing. What's worse, innocent incompetence or intelligent evil?

We have tried and seen different folks and different strokes, from war vet to houswife to political protege, we will see how a catholic seminarian will do this time around.

I'm happy he won but I have reservations. There is a danger that he might be swallowed up by the system (I hope not) and the sphere of politics are for the catholic laity. It's just that nobody from the catholic laity (the good ones) of Pampanga wanted to run against Pineda and Lapid.

He's diocesan (Diocese in Pampanga). Doesn't belong to any religious order.
