    priest turned politician
actor became president now under house arrest
    mutineer/coup plotter in senate

hoping that the priest with all his idealism wont be eaten by the system.

He is still a priest according to the CBCP and he is also the governor elect.

But what about the separation of Church and State?

I don't think there is an issue between separation of Church and state because his mandate as governor was given by the people who voted for him. It would be an issue if the church appointed him as governor.

    Well, not quite.

Holy Mother Church has its hierarchy and chain of command.
The Philippine government has its own.

Belonging to both can create conflicts of interest,
and even in a country that's overwhelmingly Catholic,
it's different having a lay Catholic versus a clergyman
    in office.

To leave no room for doubt, the governor elect may need to
leave the priesthood. Perhaps there's a temporary state
of suspension that the Church can accomodate him with,
because voluntary inhibition doesn't quite cut it for me.
    JMHO, YMMV, etc.

There is no such thing in the Philippines since the church meddles in politics.

Madaming temptations sa politics. At di yan magyayari pag may law tayo na only taxpayers are allowed to vote and be voted.

pero sa pilipinas, walang separation of church and state, parang power hungry din ang church dito. dapat ata i tax din.

Religion would not be an issue as long as it does not interfer or clout his governance. There have been and there are imams and pastors elected elsewhere in the country.

IMHO, there's no problem with that for as long as the church people in the government can still withstand his faith against the corrupt system of government. separation of church and state i believe that for as long as the church will not indoctrinate the government to have one religion and influence the government morally that wouldn't be a problem. one reason why the US constitution stands until now, because it was authored with some leaders of the church inspired by the words of God, the Bible. yet there are now US leaders who's trying to amend their constitution, one particular issue is 2nd amendment. there are some US leaders too supporting the proposal of stamping out the "in God we trust" seal in US currencies. there are even states in the US prohibiting bible reading and open prayer in public schools, another issue is the same sex marriage that some US leaders support such proposals which is definitely contradicts the Bible. no wonder why the US a blessed country, being prone now to terrorist attacks.

Whatever he is...whether priest governor or governor priest doesn't matter...As a priest, you serve God by serving the people...As governor, you serve government by serving the people, too.

A REAL priest who is true to his vows of celibacy as opposed to politicians with so many nos.(1,2,3 etc.), who is true to the Word of God as to opposed to some in the religion business, who is really pro-people who have less in life...I'll vote for the person anytime...Now, if we have an Angel running for President in 2010;)

For me, he'll be having a hard time dealing with all the illegal activities going on here in our province. Maraming pera mga kalaban nya...pero good thing sya nanalo. It's going to be a good start :)

Let's just hope he'll stay on the right path and not turn to the dark side of the force hehe

I heard he received tons of death threats and I'm sure those BGs aren't fooling around once they got cornered.

Sana magtagal sya at di maunahan/matambangan.

low profile pagka naging batas na tax payer lang ang allowed to VOTE baka ang population natin 10million lang instead of the registered voter which is 45million.

Yan bang mga maiingay sa kalsada, mga nakatira sa riles ng tren nagbabayad ba yan ng TAX, Pero sila ang palagi RAW API at MAIINGAY.

It's a classic tale of David beating Goliath.

Sana lang.....sana lang.....mabago niya ang Pampanga.

Sa tingin ko nga kailangan talaga in politics now is FEAR in GOD, kasi sobra ng garapal. Tignan na lang ninyo being the only Christian country in South-East Asia isa tayo sa pinaka-corrupt at pinaka-mahirap so ibig sabihin ba niyan dahil Kristyano kaya tayo corrupt at mahirap???
