Now that 4th generation Glock pistols are out, is the price of used 3 generation glock pistols going down? How about the 2nd generation?

Are there people who prefer the 3rd Generation Glock pistols over the new 4th gens? Is there enough of these people to hold the price of used 3rd generation pistols to current level?

I find that most of my customers want the 3rd gen over the new model. I suspect that the demand for the earlier gens will increase.

The local Academy dropped the price of the Gen 3 Glock 22 by $30 bucks, no bargain by any means but I was kind of shocked to see a discounted Glock.

I have found around here that the price of new guns has dropped a little and that makes me happy. However I have seen tons of used guns lately where the seller is asking close to or just as much as new price, and to me thats so annoying.

I know the dealer cost on Glocks have not changed at all over the last several years. If anything dealers are making less margin. The Gen4 guns are slightly higher priced because they all come with three magazines now. I do not expect used Glocks to drop much in price, they hold their value pretty well.

At my local FFL dealer the price of 3rd gen Glocks stayed the same while the price of 4th gen Glocks are higher. I examined a 4th gen Glock the other day and don't see what the big deal is. I wasn't impressed. I prefer the 3rd gen rtf2.

It is annoying.Guns are like cars, once you take them off the lot they are used and worth half of what they were. Used Glocks on Gunbroker are as high as new ones in some cases. Its amazing!

When the Gen 3 Glocks came out, there was a short reduction on price/value of the 2nd Gens. But it was short lived for certain. No matter what changes or "improvements" Glock makes there will always be a good size market for the older models. I myself still prefer the Gen 2 Glocks, which seems to still sell for almost as much as Gen 3 Glocks (unless they are beat up). As more issues seem to come up for the 4th Generation, you may see a price increase in the models that are no longer being produced.

From what I've seen good, clean used Glocks are selling slightly higher now. I would attribute it to various reasons; the fact that its a Glock, the increase demand for guns in general and they're harder to come by in some areas.

    Glocktalk's saga of generational changes:

"Change it, it sucks, it's uncomfortable, change it!"

    Then Glock does.

"Why the heck did you change it? The old ones were WAY better. They were perfect...why on earth would you change it?"

I don't think they will go down yet. The Gen4 hasn't proved itself on the market. I tell you though, where I live there are a ton of used Glocks, especially Gen2s available.

Probably not for a year or 2 until after the police trade-in's start hitting the market and then it may depend on location/state.
