If you had to pick one, what's Your Preference: Gen3, Gen4 or Gen5?
I'm the strange one who likes my 19.4 with finger grooves. That being said, I also like my 26.5 without them. I shoot them about the same, but the one I carry the most is my 19.4 because of the way it fits my (large) hand.
Gen5 slide stop gets in my way so I sold it. I prefer Gen4. In fact, the best trigger I've had on a Glock thus far was a Gen4 G26.
I am more comfortable with my Gen 3 17 because I have shot thousands and thousands of rounds through it and I've carried it for over a decade. That said I only have a few thousand through my Gen 5 17. I've only owned it since early March but I'm becoming more comfortable with it. At the moment there is nothing natural feeling about it.

Gen 3 here. Like the finger grooves and like the old school gen 3 reliability.
Gen 3 G17 all day.
Gen 5. Backstraps + no finger grooves. Best combo yet.
All gen3 for me.
I also like the no finger grooves + backstraps on the Gen5 best.
Gen 3 RTF2
my daily Gen3 26 daily carry.
I thought I would rather a Gen 5, so I bought one.
Later bought a gen 4, what do ya know, I prefer the gen 4 now. The finger grooves work fine for me.
What? No option for Gen 2?
I think they are my favorite. But all the Gens are great.
Theres no gen 2 26. They started with the gen 2.5 in 1995.
I have 2’s, 3’s and 4’s. I’ve rented a 19.5. I would have to say Gen4. One reason is the double recoil spring. I wouldn’t have thought it, but it makes a noticeable difference in recoil. I never noticed it until one day I was vetting my new Gen4 19. I decided to shoot my current Gen2 EDC. I cleared it and put a gen 4 mag in with FMJ and fired it and thought somehow I mixed up the +p HST’s until I dropped the mag and saw it was FMJ. I then picked up the gen4 and fired it. There’s definitely less recoil in a Gen4 gun. I like the grip of the Gen4 the best. I like Gen3 triggers.
Started shooting Glocks in the late-90s and have done most of my shooting with Gen3s and they’re prob my favorite- though the Gen4 has grown on me (ccw a Gen4 19). Not a fan of the Gen5. I detest the ambi slide-stop.
I thought about including Gens 1 & 2, but then I figured this round I would limit the question to what's still available.
