Like Moms...:) I haven't had a pot roast in years so I bought a English Roast tonight, browned it and threw it into a roaster and put into the oven with some red potato's, carrots and onions.... Yummmmm.....!

Throw in a packgs of Knorr's Pot roast seasoning. Better than the Lipton Onion Soup Mix but the same idea.

Even easier, if you have a Golden Corral in your area, their's is wonderful, only your house doesn't smell as good!

I did one last night with a very similar recipe. Seems to be a new Sunday night tradition around my house. Although, it is just me and the girlfriend. Lots of leftovers! ;f

Yea, cept I didn't be a big enough roast. 2 3/4 pounder. I should have gotten two of them. I've got more Tato's, Onions and Carrots left over. I think I'm going to run down and get another 2 pounder just so I can finish off the rest of the veggies...

Question, the English roast I got didn't have a bone in it. What do I want to look for with a bone...?

Yes they do! My girlfriend doesn't actually live with me full time - normally just on the weekends due to our schedules. Therefore, I am most often cooking for just me.

I've got a very healthy appetite, but eating a 3 pound roast plus potatoes, carrots, onions is quite a bit to handle myself - so I cook about every other day. I almost live on leftovers. ;f

The first one was so good I did a second one on account of having so many tato's and carrots left over. I could find any Pot Roast seasoning but I did get some Knorrs Onion Soup Mix.

    I'M THE MAN....!;e

    VL,
Two stocks I wish I could buy, but are private-Quick Trip gas, and Golden Corral.
GC is exceptional for a buffet restaurant. You must go to their breakfast buffet on the weekends-great!
Even with all you can eat sirloin and drink, out the door for about $10 at dinner. Lunch(2-4)is mid $5 for seniors!
    See my first sentence!

    lots og

I've only been once, and that was on a Sunday afternoon up at the Prescott location. They serve steak on Sunday, cooked to order! You're SO right! I tried my best to sample a little taste of everything OTHER than the salad-bar, and desert bar. The problem is, they seemed to keep ADDING something different every half-hour, LOL!
    ;P

Anyhow, it's a great testament when the ONLY thing I didn't care for was ONE of the soup selections. It the Hometown Barf-et was even HALF AS GOOD as the Corral, they'd be well worth visiting.

PDogSniper, the other day I thought you were a writer (different thread), and now it turns out you're a cook. ;f

You guys made me hungry for pot roast now. Here's a "budget gourmet" secret -- however you make your roast, add a can of cream of mushroom soup to the liquid while the meat cooks. Turns out really yummy and everybody wants to know the secret ingredient.

Do you have Fire Mountain buffets where y'all live? They're like Golden Corral on steroids. Much better than GC, IMHO.
