Was tossing around ideas of having either my G21 or G19 slide ported. I've seen G19 ported barrels for sale. I'm sure I could find a G21 ported barrel.

    What says GT?

I think it would be cool but why mess with a good thing?

I'd say if you really want to, first try an extended ported barrel (aftermarket) that way if you don't like it there aren't holes in your slide.

    Why mess up the slide?
And extended ported barrel just drops in and out.
I think ports on the far end of the barrel are more effective.
The extended barrel tends to wash the velocity loss of the ports.

BTW I have a G27-357 4.16" ported barrel that works great.
    Also have a P220 with a 5.10" ported barrel that's less effective.
I'm thinking high velocity high pressure rounds work better with ports.
    Recommend porting the 9mm.
Or considering a .45-10mm conversion with ports for the G21.

That's the only way I'd do it.

Porting loses velocity because you lose pressure behind the bullet earlier. An extended, ported barrel has more length before you lose pressure (compared to stock, non-extended), so you should actually see a minute velocity increase over the stock length barrel, albeit not as much of an increase as an extended barrel of the same length that is not ported.

So it's better than a wash. Marginally.

I have a Glock subcompact in which I run a ported compact barrel. I like this setup.

Do you really not understand what the phrase "tends to wash" means?
That's a rhetorical question by the way lol!

Ps all these guys talking about losing velocity for a ported slide and barrel I laugh at you sure you'll lose 150 or less but who cares in a defensive situation! OP just gave it done at magna port they do a serious great job

1029 Storm Lake M&P40 extended barrel, almost new
1004 Storm Lake M&P40 ported, used, less than 1000 rounds
