Haven't been since 2005 and have not really watched since 2008-ish.
To each his/her own.
Live near PIR (Phoenix). Went to a race a few years ago but have no interest to go to another race. Had a good time, enjoyed the race but just too many people. Traffic afterwards was terrible. Took me 2 hours to go a few miles.....
I went to the NASCAR race at the Bridgehampton LI NY sports car course (now defunct)
It was definitely 'sporty', the heavy NASCAR cars on a twisty sports cart course ... It was won by totally masterful driving in a lighter Plymouth by Richard Petty (That guy was amazing, using the entire track, edge to edge, in a smooth fast track through the course, The heavier Fords, which ran wild on the oval tracks, kept running off in the dirt, they were not making time at all ... )
I have been to Richmond twice and Phoenix once.
Yes. Many at Daytona.
You said nascar tracks. Nascar sanctions many short tracks and they run nascar weekly series. So if you wanna get pissy, you might wanna get more specific.
I edited the original post to help you out. Have a good one!
The hardcore sit on the fence in turn one!
Been to a bunch of races, probably 50 plus (cup, Busch and trucks) at Dover, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Homestead, Martinsville, Richmond and Bristol
Late 1950s early 1960s at the Nashville track. Also many regular Saturday night races. Got married and we moved away.
Been to a few - very few - races since then; none NASCAR.
However a couple years ago spent an evening at an event in the NASCAR museum in Charlotte NC. Quite nice museum and enjoyed it.
No, but I lived in Bristol Tennessee for quite awhile and remembered a lot of the out of town visitors talking about their trailer houses a lot when the races were in town.
Only been to beer can racing when being paid to work the event. Not a fan of hold my beer , track bar , tire equalizing smashing into each other racing. But the maxi pad beer nuts toyota sure was running great today.
I surprised my wife who is a fan with tickets to NASCAR at Texas Motor Speedway, it was the NRA 500 and Gov. Rick Perry was the grand marshal.
Long story short, it was my first NASCAR race as well so I thought I was doing good to buy front row tickets between the flag stand and turn 4, biggest mistake, once we got tired of picking rubber out of our teeth, face, hair and being sprayed with racing fuel for 50 laps we pulled up and went to row 40, it was much more pleasant and nice to see the cars go around the entire track.
lesson learned and will go back!
Used to go to Infineon Raceway (Sears Point) for NASCAR Cup Series. Was so odd to see NASCAR on a road course. But my young son was in complete awe of it all. Always wanted to go to Daytona for the granddaddy of them all...
Wow. What was your favorite, most memorable?
Watching people press the gas and turn left isnt my cup of tea
Brickyard at Indy and Atlanta
MIS one time decades ago. Great weekend, just not something I ever got into.
