That was the old Occoneechee Speedway in Hillsborough. Long ago abandoned but actually still around, you can hike around and still see where it was.

    Never been to one.
I have been to a few Drag races, but to me, Nascar is better viewed remotely.

Yes, KC, Texas, Phoenix and Las Vegas. About 30 races so far. Also my sons have bought me a ride a long with Petty on two occasions. They also bought me a Late Model drive with Kenny Wallace racing at Lakeside Speedway in KC.

I raced stock cars locally for about 15 years but never had the want to go to watch a race. By the looks the way NASCAR is going I probably never will.
After sitting behind the wheel for so long it's hard to set behind the fence.

ZERO interest. My uncle took me to races when I was young, and I really liked going. Also, used watch Indy 500 each year. However, my older sister and her husband took me to the drags as a kid, and I liked them way better.

Fast fiward to teen years, I had my ‘71 Chevelle and into drag racing with my friends. We only cared for the straight 1/4 shot with no interest for going in circles.

A quite a few years ago I got to sit in Shirley Muldowney's pits at US nationals, she was a friend of my sister in-law & brother. It interesting watching them pull the engine apart & back together so fast, it was great when they fired it up, until the nitro fumes got to us.

I saw her only once in person at a race. She and her crew were busy in the pits, but she took the time to say hi and allow me to take some pics.

Charlotte - Coke 600 (dang, that's a long race). Several BofA 500's (fall race). Some All-Star races, and my new favorite - the Roval.

Also, a handful of Bristol night races. Awesome.

I've never been, from what I understand the 4-wide drag strip next to Charlotte is MUCH louder than the NASCAR races. MUCH MUCH louder. As in you might want to wear earplugs and ear muffs. Maybe some noise cancelling ones.

I'd like to, but never had the opportunity.

I've been to indy a few times, camping on site when I was in college.

Yes, we went to our first ever NASCAR race at North Wilkesboro, NC. in 91 or 92.
It was a considered a ‘short track’ and boy was it ever. It was a very small track and incredibly LOUD! There were several empty seats in the low rows which at first I didn’t understand, so unlike other sports seating. We went down to check them out and quickly realized two things.
One was that being low, you didn’t have as good a view of the whole track, and second was that it was even louder. You couldn’t have any kind of normal conversation, you had to scream in the ear of the person next to you to be heard.
Glad we went though because it closed a few years later.

Also, being my first race I was shocked to discover they didn’t sell beer at the track concession, you had to bring you own.

In the late 70's and early 80's I worked the infield at the 2 annual Darlington races, the 300 and 500. I ever attended as a spectator except a couple time trials. Got my rebel redneck on and subsequently out of my system at that time.

    No.

If I'm going to watch racing, it will be either horses or Formula 1. I appreciate how difficult it is to compete at the NASCAR level, but watching a car making a left turn for hours just doesn't hold my interest.

While I can imagine driving in a race has to be exciting as hell, watching cars go in a circle for 500 miles, or however long a race may be, is about as exciting to me as watching paint dry. I watched a race once on TV, for maybe 10 minutes, and fell asleep.

If you go a DIRT track you won't want to sit at the track side seats ether. As the cars go around the track the tires grip the dirt & throw it into the air or stands which ever is behind them. The first lap is the funniest from the back of the pack, you get to see all the newbies jump & run as they see the wave of dirt coming their way. LOL

Atlanta, Daytona, Talladega and Sonoma. Talladega was my first in 1977 and I was blown away by the spectacle of it all...

Been to several with Hot Passes every year to any track, for several years from employees.
The one I liked best was Hickory NC when it was dirt.
    No interest anymore.
