If I'm awake a watch is on my wrist. Sometimes I even sleep with it on my wrist. I'm a nut about precise times and being on time for everything

I just use the Wal Mart water resistant 15 dollar watches. They're better than Timex. They take a licking and keep on ticking. They keep really good accurate time.

In my more adventurism cave exploring days, I've really given them a beating. Including immersion in water for hours at a time. Not diving, but crawling in cave streams and deep mud for hours. Beating them up on rocks climbing, etc. They worked fine and didn't leak.

What more can you ask of a cheap watch.

Mine saved my life. A safety cable snagged it and it kept me from falling out of a helicopter. So I have a very strong attachment to it.

    image.jpg image.jpg

You can see dents just above my thumbnail where the cable clasp caught the watch.

And my watches are all pretty practical.... But , I treat them a LOT like I do my guns... I dont have the $$ to collect guns or watches..but I like a nice reliable decent watch..just like my guns..they all get used..and they all get their share of little scratches and dings..thus my no "collection/safe queen" type guns..or watches..I probably will never own a $2000+ (or even anything over $500 thats about my limit) watch because I dont really have a reason to nor do I "dress up" enough to wear it for "special occasions"..at that rate id be wearing it 1-2 times a year..and thats just not worth it to me...

So I keep it to "working" watches just like "working" guns on that side of things..something thats nice and reliable but im not afraid to get it scratches or dinged and I dont mind if that happens.. I have a few GShocks, I like the Timex expedition also and my current normal wear watch is a Garmin Fenix5....my most unusual watch is a Gerlach(Polish watch maker) thats a 1 of 200 made but it didnt break the bank either... Id also like a nice Seiko diver someday...

I don't think I know anyone under 40 who wears a watch. Unless it's an Apple Watch. Everyone has a phone with the time readily visible.

This is my main complaint with most G Shocks. The display of time, date, etc. is about the size of an old school small postage stamp and the overall case is huge. I'm an average sized guy and have 49 year old eyes, so that's not optimum for me.

Lots of the timex digitals have a better balance for me. If only they had atomic timekeeping!

Haven’t worn a watch since the cell phone came about. No rings, no necklaces, no watch, no jewelry. Wife had to get used to the no wedding ring on my hand but that was non negotiable. I hate rings the most but watches are a close second.

A few of my others. The black G-Shock has been with me for about 11 years and has sentimental value to me, and the Invicta was picked up after a forum member posted a thread on there being a sale on it. 4A7A3606-11E7-417D-BA64-480002EE3AC3.jpeg

Yes. Every day. I’m a WIS.

I have more watches than guns.

Memo: Sell some witches. Buy more guns.
