Why is it that every time I read that someone has used this term to describe themselves and their, well, activities, its always to the left?
I was reading about Michael Stipe, the lead singer for R.E.M. Of course he is a lefty, and it mentions he once dated Natalie Merchant who was also politically active. To the left of course.
Why do so many involved in creative processes, like singing, writing music, acting, are full blown lefties?
Are they not capable of rational thought?

    They’re woke.....

Or, in layman’s terms, incapable of rational thought.

    Yeah he does.
Not a reason for irrational thought though.

I don't mind political activism if it's entertainers, athletes or cable news pundits. What bothers me is when people in our judiciary become political activists. Take this quote from Justice Sotomayer in her dissent on the travel ban...

“As here, the government invoked an ill-defined national security threat to justify an exclusionary policy of sweeping proportion. As here, the exclusion was rooted in dangerous stereotypes about, inter alia, a particular group’s supposed inability to assimilate and desire to harm the United States.”

^^^ This, from one of 9 justices who are our highest arbiters of law. When the highest court in the land descends into political punditry, it undermines the integrity of our justice system and shows that justice is not blind in this country. The blindfold is off Lady Justice.

“dangerous stereotypes” and “supposed inability to assimilate”and “desire too harm”-nothing supposed about it, and stereotypes are sometimes accurate.
