I have been having a lot of issues that others have had with my Gen 4 G19. FTE, brass hitting me in the face, etc... To solve this problem, I ordered a LWD G19 extractor and a new recoil spring. In the meantime, I am shooting later this week at the CPD academy, so I want to do some things that might help my issues for the next few days. I read about polishing the extractor with steel wool, and cycling the slide/locking it back for a week. I've done the slide lock, but I need some help on the extractor. How do I polish it with steel wool? Do I only polish the top and bottom, or the entire extractor? How much should I polish it? Will this help at all? I couldn't find much information in a search here or on Google.

We have a Glock armorer at the academy who is going to help me, but he hasn't polished an extractor before.

    Thanks for any help/advice.

The problem is caused by cheap 115 gr ammo coupled with the dual recoil spring system. The good news is: contact Glock Inc and they will send you a replacement spring that really works!

The quick fix for now is to shoot 124 or 147 gr ammunition.
