Curious if polishing the old parts are worth it as oppose to swapping out internals to OEM gen 3 parts and polishing those parts instead.

Aren’t those parts worth much more than new factory parts? I’d buy new.

Are they? The gun is in rough shape, I picked it up for $200 with intent to keep it as a truck gun.

Yep...I would store the parts, buy new, and rock-on...I would also take care of the 17 itself, as these gen-2's are destined to increase in value

You probably have more in a handful of parts than the entire gun is worth. Take pics and head over to the Glock Collectors Club with them. Replace the parts with new. Besides, Glock replaced them to start with for safety, that's why they're valuable now.

Without the original box/accessories it'll be tough for a Gen 2 17 itself to ever be worth much (they made a lot of them) so I personally wouldn't worry about it being a truck gun - I love shooting the Gen2s.
